Another way to get to know Vilagarcía and is through its cultural activities. The town auditorium, designed by César Portela – a nationally awarded architect – has the capacity for 754 people. Since its opening in 2003, the auditorium has hostedprestigious orchestras such as the Berlin Philarmonica Virtuoso Orchestra, ballet companies including the Moscow ballet, singers such as Serrat and many of the main theatre companies that tour Spain. It presents the plays toured by the Agencia Gallega de las Industrias Culturales (AGADIC) – Galician institution responsible for theatre arts – and is the main venue of the International Festival of Clasical Music of Vilagarcía de Arousa, Clasclás.

Throughout the year, this room, dedicated to the local painter Antón Rivas Briones, hosts painting and sculpture exhibitions by either Galician or Spanish artists as well as exhibitions about historic events, photo displays with solidarity purposes, films ….
Note. On a daily basis the Room timetable is Monday – Saturday 10:30-13:30 and 18:00-21:00. Sunday: 11:00 – 14:00 h. Public holidays: close. This timetable is likely to change if the performance requires it.

This nice Italian-style room, located in the Alcalde Rey Daviña street, with capacity for 252 people, was opened in 1884 and constituted the first permanent facilities devoted to public events in Vilagarcía. Nowadays it hosts different events throughout the year: “Achégate ó Salón” – come to the room- plays of theatre, films, concerts… Its opening times vary according to monthly cultural programs.
