If we join “sea” to “Compostela”, apart from a touristic evocative slogan, we will find an explanation for the rich historic and artistic heritage of Vilagarcía. The Phoenicians, the Romans, the Visigoths and the Normas… our city went unnoticed by few civilizations. Petroglyphs, castros – iron-age settlements- pazos – manor houses – chapels, churches, mills, bridges, and fountains are there to remind us how everything began, how Vilagarcía started of as a small sailing harbor to what we see today: a well-known city with a bright future which remains faithful to its origins, a city where the past has got a lot of future.
