Built in the 18th century on the remains of a tower from the 15th century, it was the ancestral home of the Caamaño family, founders of Vilagarcía. The most remarkable part is the garden, of French design, where magnolias and eight hundred varieties of camellias as well as some of the oldest ecucalyptus in Galicia can be found. With regard to the house, it is a building of rectangular form, with gargoyles on its upper corners and several coats of arms. Rubians holds the distintion of “International Camelia Garden of Excellence”. The pazo can be visited all year round prior reservation, either in self-guided or guided tours. The latter allows the traveler to know directly from someone from the staff, not only the pazo’s most important botanic aspects but also its main rooms and other independent constructions found in the garden: the chapel, the old stables and the winery.
